Winemaker | Pikes Wines

We have an exciting opportunity for a passionate and enthusiastic individual to join our existing Winemaking team!

This is a permanent full time position, reporting directly to the Chief Winemaker and based at our 100ha Polish Hill River estate in the Clare Valley. Our vineyard has 18 different varieties, providing an opportunity to learn about different winemaking approaches.

The Winemaker will establish close working relationships with both the Winery and Vineyard teams. You will contribute, understand, execute and manage the day-to-day winemaking requirements in conjunction with the Chief Winemaker taking on a key role in wine blending decisions.

Responsibilities will include:

- Assist in managing the cellar to the highest standards

- Take an active role in the continuous improvement of winery and processes

- Manage, coach and mentor winery staff. Including working with the Chief Winemaker to plan workloads for the cellar outside of, and during vintage

- Act as a representative for the company on industry programs or events where there is direct benefit to the company and as agreed by Chief Winemaker

- Have responsibilities for implementing the winery health and safety management system as an integral part of day-to-day operations

- Managing compliance and developing standards and systems

- Ability to host customer-facing tastings, visits, and events when required

- Assist in our continuing journey for Sustainable Winemaking practices.

Assistant Accountant | Pikes Wines

Ready to work in a different kind of accountancy? Pikes Wines are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join our small Finance team. Build a long term career in a well established and respected family business! 

You will assist the Finance & Administration Manager in financial reporting, information systems and administration activities across the Pikes group of companies, this full-time permanent role involves:   

- Preparing sales reports and analysis for management and providing assistance in ensuring streamlined sales processing across all of our systems.

- Providing assistance in preparing monthly group financial reports – including profit & loss, balance sheet and cash flow reporting.

- Processing of fixed assets transactions.

- Processing monthly intercompany charges.

- Undertaking monthly expense review and analysis.

- Tax and risk compliance work including preparation of the quarterly BAS and annual FBT return.

- Providing assistance with preparation of annual group budgets.

- Assisting with all areas of IT – systems, purchases of equipment, day to day queries from staff.

Experience and qualifications    

- CPA/CA accredited (or working towards)   

- Experience using XERO accounting software   

- Wine industry experience desirable, but not essential

- Advanced skills and experience using Microsoft Excel is essential

- Good communication skills

SLATE Restaurant are seeking some amazing Front of House team members to join our casual roster and work alongside our existing team, ensuring that our guests have exceptional dining experiences. 

Currently operating 4 lunch services per week, as well as other functions and weddings, SLATE Restaurant provides the opportunity for a great work/life balance in a stunning winery location. 

To be successful you will have:

- A friendly and welcoming personality

- A passion for food, wine, beer and hospitality

- Responsible service of Alcohol certification is essential

Experience in a similar role would be an advantage, however if you have the willingness to learn, experience is not required and training will be provided.

Shifts are predominately weekends for these casual positions and will including some weekday, evenings & events.
