2006 'THE MERLE' RESERVE RIESLING
“The Merle” is named after the matriarch of the Pike family - Merle Pike. Unfortunately Merle has passed away and did not get to see her name on this beautiful wine. She did, however, know that her name was going onto the label and was quietly chuffed to know this.
Our reserve riesling is made using the finest grapes from the vintage. It displays delicate, yet complex flavours and shows the unique characteristics of Polish Hill River.

Colour: Brilliant pale green
Aroma: Restrained aromas of lemon/lime and mineral – absolutely pure Polish Hill River Riesling
Palate: The palate is delicate and fine with layers of citrus / slatey / mineral flavours and a piercing acidity that gives the wine both backbone and length. Shows great purity of fruit and underlines again what a brilliant Riesling site we have in our possession at Polish Hill River.
Summary: Pan fried Red Emperor with a buerre blanc sauce would work an absolute treat. Keep for up to 10 - 12 years.
