2007 'THE DOGWALK' CABERNET MERLOT
'The Dogwalk' represents the path that Neil Pike and faithful Labrador Bella walk morning and night - come rain, hail or shine - around the Cabernet and Merlot vines at Pikes Estate in the Polish Hill River sub region of the Clare Valley.
Colour: Medium bright red.
Aroma: Attractive aromas of ripe blackcurrant and black cherries, with a touch of “charry” French oak complimenting the concentrated fruit characters. Also some dark chocolate and violet/leafy notes showing. Typical Dogwalk.
Palate: Rich flavours of ripe, dark fruits and chocolate are the features here with fine, dry tannins, subtle oak and balanced acidity adding length and structure to the finish..
Summary: Another top flight Pikes Dogwalk, offering the rich aromas and flavours of the vineyard with a bit of backbone on the palate. Good drink now for such a young wine, but will take 4-8 years cellaring without any problems at all.
