Wines

2009 “Eastside” Shiraz

Colour

Deep red – almost black

Aroma

Ripe blueberry, plum and black cherry fruit with some dark chocolate and graphite notes as well. These are all complimented by a touch of charry French oak in the background mix.

Palate

The palate is soft, juicy and bright with flavours of blueberry and plum dominating the charry French oak and core of dark chocolate running through the mid palate. Fine tannins on the finish add length and a structure to the ripe, plush fruit.

Summary

A really nice example of medium bodied Clare Valley Shiraz. No problem to enjoy this wine in its youth, but as usual 4-7+ years will see some development occur in the wine and amply repay those who like more complex, aged characters in their reds. Roast lamb is a good match.
