2009 THE WHITE MULLET
An interesting white blended wine: 70% Riesling, 11% Viognier, 10% Chenin Blanc, 9% Sauvignon Blanc
Lime aromas up front, added notes of honeysuckle and dried apricot with trailing white smoke at the close. I loved this one… Maybe because it was such a variety of flavors… Layers upon layers…

2008 THE WHITE MULLET
Part Aussie Riesling, here blended with three other white grapes to make a clean, tangy, aromatic wine with a good squeeze of lemon and lime.

Highly respected wine writer and MW Jancis Robinson has her own rating system. VGV means ‘very good value’. This year Pikes White Mullet has achieved a rating of 17 points out of 20, and thus easily makes it into the VGV category.
VGV - inspired, zesty, full, truly intriguing blend at a good price. Really easy to like - complete and broad on the palate.

Just to show that the South Africans aren’t the only people in the wine world to make ‘something out of nothing white blends’ so successfully, Pikes Mullet is a Riesling/ Viognier/ Sauvignon Blanc/ Chenin Blanc blend which confounds the sceptics and defies belief by tasting incredibly complex, as it should do, but also downright delicious at the same time (which most don’t). Mullets all round please.

2007 THE WHITE MULLET
This is a fruity, fresh quaffing white which represents a very clever blend indeed. It adds the weight of Viognier, the Zip of Sauvignon and the freshness of Semillon to what is otherwise quite a classy Riesling with a long finish and nicely balanced acidity.

2007 THE WHITE MULLET
Made from Riesling, Viognier, Chenin Blanc and Sauvignon Blanc this quaff sporting white wine has a very good red counterpart, but the white got the nod this year. Sensually aromatic, but not taking itself too seriously this is a bloody clever piece of winemaking and a wine that is as hypnotic as is slottable.
