2017 ‘Gills Farm’ Mourvedre
Colour: Medium / deep red.
Aroma: Ripe dark plums, chocolate and white pepper characters are offered up at first from this enticing wine. A second sniff reveals little earthiness and graphite and oak that is almost unnoticeable.
Palate: The palate is soft and ripe with a core of sweet plum and prune flavours that morph into some savoury spicy nuances on the finish. Fine tannins and good acidity add structure and length to the wine.
Summary: A lovely medium bodied wine that cries out for food. Try it with something retro like a medium rare pepper steak. Drink now and over the next 3 – 5 years.
