Colour: Medium / deep red.
Aroma: Cool aromas of red and blue fruits with a swirl of pink peppercorn and perhaps a little graphite as well. The oak is there in the background, but sits quite unobtrusively within the fruit.
Palate: The palate is all juicy, red cherry and blueberry with some pink peppercorn again. Fine tannins and an almost creamy texture add interest and length.
Summary: The Assemblage SMG has been a successful blend for us since 2001 and one of the unsung heroes of our range of red wines. Drink it now and the next five years or so. This would be great with a beef and mushroom pie.
