2016 ‘Gill’s Farm’ Viognier
Subtle aromas of peach and apricot along with some complex flinty/struck match notes derived from wild yeast ferment. Also has some attractive floral notes on show.
Medium bodied and quite restrained avoiding the fatness that can sometimes detract with this variety. Displays the stone fruits mentioned above and balanced acidity adds some depth and interest to an otherwise soft, creamy palate.
Viognier is a variety often misunderstood by many producers. Our style is quite subtle making it a lot more food friendly. Pretty much ready to drink upon release, but 2-3 years in the cellar won’t detract at all. Try this with crab linguine and a touch of chilli. Don’t serve this wine too cold!
