2015 ‘The Hill Block’ Reserve Cabernet
Medium to deep red.
Gorgeous, fragrant nose of ripe blackcurrants, crushed violets and some attractive cigar box/ cedary French oak. Quite lifted and perfumed – absolutely typical with this wine.
Quite a rich palate brimming with red currants, cherries and cassis plus a little charry French oak providing both interest and structure.
A really nice expression of Clare Cabernet from the oldest vines on our estate. The fragrance and elegance is in no small part due to a small Cabernet Franc component in this wine. Very drinkable now, but 10-15 years stashed somewhere at the back of the cellar will reward those who can keep their hands off it. Lovely with pink roasted rack of Saltbush lamb.
