2014 ‘The E.W.P.’ Reserve Shiraz
Deep red, crimson hue.
Quite perfumed, with aromas of ripe dark berries and black cherry with hints of spice, charry French oak and graphite. Also some attractive/complex grilled meat notes.
The palate is medium bodied and has soft, silky tannins that provide structure for the rich yet not overpowering ripe dark fruits and chocolate. Balanced acidity sees the wine finish long and clean. Really is quite elegant.
Another small step forward in the evolution of the E.W.P. Shiraz style that is emerging – this time with the inclusion of a
parcel of Shiraz made using whole bunch fermentation. It has richness and concentration of fruit, but is not a “blockbuster” by any means. Under screwcap this wine will still be drinking nicely in 10-15 years time – perhaps even longer.
Great match with a ripe, soft cheese.
